More than fifteen years ago, a family member asked me to draw Rex. For one reason or another, I never completed the request. Recently, I finally sat down and created not just one portrait, but several pieces of artwork inspired by him — and in doing so, I realized how meaningful it is to celebrate the pets we love. Rex's story is worth remembering.
He was found wandering along the side of a road and rescued before ending up in a very uncertain situation. Despite some anxiety, Rex was gentle, loyal, and polite — a true gentleman and a great listener. His family later welcomed a sister, Cody, to keep him company.

Rex had a playful side too. He once took off after a neighbor's chicken — but stopped the moment his owner called him back. Another time he rolled down a hill and didn't even realize it until he looked around. That's Rex.
Each month's envelope arrives filled with handcrafted keepsakes celebrating a real member's pet — assembled at the kitchen table, posted with care.
A hand-illustrated postcard of the month's featured pet, delivered inside a custom illustrated envelope.
A kiss-cut sticker of the featured pet, plus a coloring page to keep, share, or mail on to someone who needs a smile.
A game or activity and a collectible artist trading card — swappable, one-of-a-kind, and always a little surprising.
Every mailer also includes a personalized pet story written about that month's featured companion.

Hi there! I'm Sarah Steinhauer, the founder of The Keepsake Pet Club. I started this club because I believe every pet deserves to be celebrated — not just by the people who love them, but by a whole community of pet lovers.
My childhood was filled with hours dabbling in art. I've always been happiest creating art of my favorite subject, animals. Back then, I created art using magazines and photos. About 15 years ago a family member asked me to draw their beloved dog. Like so many intentions, life got busy, and I never completed it. I was reminded of the request for years. Then recently, another person asked me to create artwork for their pet. It felt like the perfect time to finally honor the original request.
For my first featured dog, I wanted to make up for lost time. Instead of creating just one piece, I explored multiple artistic styles and mediums inspired by that pet.
This experience inspired The Keepsake Pet Club.
Every month I pour my heart into the artwork, the stories, and everything that goes into those envelopes. This club is my little corner of the world where I get to try new skills, add a little whimsy — and where pets are the celebrities they've always deserved to be, and where the people who love them get to share that joy.

You'll receive mail once a month. If you sign up by the last day of the month, your first mailing will be sent by the 15th of the following month.
If your pet is selected, you will be notified and will receive the original art at no additional cost. Your pet will be featured in a monthly mailing to all Club members in the future.
No — phone photos are perfect! In fact, the more photos you share, the better.
No. Every monthly mailing is unique and inspired by that month's featured pet and theme.
Please contact me and I'll happily send you a replacement.
Yes, you may cancel at any time. Annual memberships will be refunded on a prorated basis based on the months remaining.
Yes. Simply complete the Membership form on the recipient's behalf. You may leave the pet information blank if you don't have it or prefer not to include it.
In the Additional Comments section, please write "Gift Membership." This lets us know the membership is a gift, so you will only be charged once and your membership will not automatically renew.
When choosing the membership, please select the Annual Membership plan. Once your purchase is complete, we'll make sure the recipient receives a special notification letting them know their Gift Membership was sent by you.
Yes, please contact me! If I have availability, I'd be happy to create a custom collection of at least five original pieces featuring your pet. You can choose whether to include your pet's artwork in a future Club mailing.
